Over the next week or two in Technology class, we will be taking an online test called the Scantron Performance Series. You will be taking tests in reading and math. You can work at your own pace, and there are no time limits.
These tests are like the Terra Nova tests, but taken online. The results will not appear on your report cards or affect your group placements... they are simply to help your teachers identify what skills you have mastered, and what you still need to work on.
We'll talk about the tests in class before you take them for the first time on Monday.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day - What is your dream?
This afternoon, during our combined Language Arts/Technology time, we will consult our friends Annie and Moby from BrainPop to learn a bit about the life of Dr. Martin Luther King:
Using the Smartboard, we will try to put the events of Dr. King's life into a timeline, and take a quiz to review what we have learned:
Finally, we will use Pixie to write a sentence and illustrate our dreams for the world, using the prompt "I have a dream..."
Enjoy!

Animal Arrays!
Today, we will consult with our friends Annie and Moby at Brainpop to review the concept of arrays.
Then we will use Pixie to create an array of our own. We would like you to use animal stickers to make your array. If you have time, we'd also like you to tell us the classification of your animal (such as a mammal, reptile or fish), and a fun fact. Here is my sample below:
Then, if you are finished, you may practice your multiplication tables using one of the following games:
Have fun!

Internet Safety Day!
Today, we will begin with a BrainPop Jr. movie on Internet Safety:
We'll then take the Quiz!
The we will play a pair of games to explore issues of web safety, information literacy and digital citizenship. Both games have been created by PBS Kids.
The first is a simple introduction to some of the major topics in Internet safety, such as downloading, passwords, meeting people online and being safe. By navigating this game, and answering questions correctly, students will earn an official web license:
PBS has also created a more comprehensive game titled Webonauts, to be found here:
These games will kick off a discussion of Internet Safety that will take place next week.
